Speaker 2:Oh my god, look at that beautiful shirt. Pull that up one more time. We're talking to Matt McGlone, hudson, matt McGlone, john, we're just gonna make this a fucking family affair over here. Baby Matt, go ahead and say a few words. Man, I know that you've been in our league for quite a few years, john. We're in a 14-team double flex league. That has just been off the charts, crazy. Matt is one of the most diabolical motherfuckers you guys will ever come in contact with, and drafting and just fantasy football in general, dude is a master class. So, matt, we are so happy to have you on man.
Speaker 3:Great to be here. Like I said, great to be back. Wait, hold on one second. I think there's something. It's perfect. Oh, what's this? Oh, there's the hard way, fellas, that's right.
Speaker 2:One more time. Johnny, do you feel lonely? John, do you feel lonely here? Do you miss?
Speaker 1:this I do. Let me wipe the tears here, guys. I do have my name multiple times on both of those trophies, by the way.
Speaker 3:Yeah, that's right. You know a little show and tell for everybody out there listening, so I figured bringing it in. You know it's going to be sad to give it back here. We had a little bit of a rough year last year but hey, got to prepare, Got to mock it up.
Speaker 1:That's right. That's right. Speaking of, let's get to the mock baby. Okay, let's get going here. Guys, we're drafting on sleeper, because that's what we love to do. We got a 10-team standard league one quarterback, two running backs, two receivers and a flex and a tight end. We are not drafting kickers and defenses, I am drafting from the five spot. Frankie's in the sticks, matching with Devin. We got a sandwich right in the middle there and I'm going to be all over you.
Speaker 2:Frankie Cousin sandwich. I wouldn't have it any other way, baby.
Speaker 1:That's a lot of meat in that sandwich. I don't know, man, did you go to arby's do?
Speaker 2:you gots the meats I don't know. Well, let's mock it up and try.
Speaker 1:A lot of cheese actually is what it, what it really seems like. All right, man, let's get the draft started here. Let's go all right right off the rip. Interesting start here with CeeDee Lamb, tyreek Hill, justin Jefferson, christian McCaffrey. At four and I'm on the clock, I have a feeling this is going to be a strange mock draft for us here. Man, I'm jumping on my man because I think this guy has a very, very good shot of being the 101 in next year's draft. I'm going with my boy, man B, john Robinson at number five.
Speaker 2:You suck, you suck. Good call, john. In a standard league man, I mean guys, it's going to be running back heavy. You know this. You requested us to do something like this. We are PPR and half PPR heavy, so this is going to be switch up for us. But, john, love the pick man. All right, where are you going? At number six, frankie, john, I'm going to tell you this is easy. I know there's some great receivers still on the board here. There's Jamar Chase, there's Amin Ross St Brown, we have AJ Brown. It doesn't matter, I'm locking in Brees Hall. I want a piece of that Jets offense and a piece of that. Gimme him, baby Locking in.
Speaker 3:Brees, and there they go 1-2-3, but not 1-2-3 overall. It's kind of interesting. I really like what you said there about how in a standard league it becomes more about the running backs and particularly the workhorse running back. I just saw the last two go that I wanted, so I was looking at it. Who can I go with? But I think I know we're going to lock in Mr.
Speaker 1:Gibbs All right, nice, I like that, I like that All right Back.
Speaker 3:Dan Campbell said he's ready to play.
Speaker 1:He is. He is. It seems good to go, Everything looks good and Jameer Gibbs definitely going to have a furious year this year, man. I mean, we saw the breakout last year and this year. I'm super excited about Gibbs. All right, right after Jameer Gibbs was taken by Matt, we had Jamar Chase, AJ Brown, Amin Rothane Brown, Saquon Barkley, Garrett Wilson and Jonathan Taylor coming into the second round. Here, Matt, you are on the clock. Who are you going to pair up with Jameer Gibbs?
Speaker 3:So again, when we think about the standard league, obviously there's no point per reception, but this guy I just feel like is going to have one of those years and it's going to be his first year. I'm not typically like this with the rookies, but going to an offense with an already established quarterback got a pretty good running game. Give me the guy from Ohio State, marvin Harrison, oh H.
Speaker 2:Yo fuck Frankie. Sorry, god damn you. Fine. Good, pick my turn, fuck you.
Speaker 1:Sorry for leaving you hanging on the O-H, I just wanted to see what would happen if we didn't do it, that's all Perfect. Frankie, it was perfect. I did pretty well. I handled it. It was a good T, it was a good TN Great pick with Marvin Harrison Jr there. I love that pick. Super excited about him this year. Can't wait to see what he can do.
Speaker 2:John. For me, I'm up man, so I'm going to go back to the well at running back guys. I want to really test out this strategy of going running back heavy in a 10 man and then try to start layering on some receivers and potentially quarterback as well. So from a running back standpoint, I could go Travis ETN. We could go travis etn. We could go kyron williams, we go derrick henry john oh, two of those guys we may be talking a little bit about next week. But I'll tell you what I'm gonna do something a little crazy. I'm gonna go off the wall. I'm gonna lock in king henry the eighth man. I think that king jamal henry the eighth is going to come across this field and dominate for the ravens backfield, locking him in in a standard league. Pairing that with, uh, brees Hall, I think, will only benefit this team. So really, looking forward to seeing what happens all right, really interesting.
Speaker 1:I like the, uh, I like the the workhorse running back strategy here. That's not something you normally see, so this is kind of fun to do. It's, uh, reminds me of doing a draft about 10 years ago, you know it does yeah all right.
Speaker 1:Well, that puts me in an interesting position here, because I'm looking running backs. I could look at you know it does. Yeah, all right. Well, that puts me in an interesting position here, because I'm looking running backs. I could look at. You know, there are some really good workhorses still out there. Travis ETN love anchoring my team with him. Kyron Williams same thing. I think the guy's just going to be an absolute beast in the backfield with the Rams.
Speaker 1:You could look at A-chan Josh Jacobs receivers Puka Nakua is still sitting there and it's a teardrop. Drake, london Devontae, adam, chris Olave. Something else I want to look at and remind everyone here this is a 10-team league. It's going to be a little bit different strategy than what you're normally going to do. The onesie positions, tight end quarterback. They're much more important in a 10-man league. I'm going to look at quarterback here because Puka Nakua has got a. There's a little bit of a teardrop there to Drake, london Devontae and Chris Olave, but there's a lot of those receivers I really like I can maybe grab one on the way back. I'm going to jump on. I would normally look at a Josh Allen here at quarterback. I'm actually going to go Jalen Hurts because I'm going to get a little silly and see if I can maybe feel a good DAC in this league. I'm going to come back and try to go for Devonta Smith. So I'm just telling everybody ahead of time what I'm trying to do. It doesn't mean I'm going to be able to do it because these two old fuckers are going to snake them from me. I guarantee it. But I'm going to go.
Speaker 1:Jalen Hurts here, all right, after Jalen Hurts, puka Nakua, travis, etienne, kylan Williams, josh Allen, drake, london, chris Salave, Devante Adams and Brandon Ayuk and I am back on the clock here. All right, let's look at running back. Devon Achan, josh Jacobs Very interesting. Debo Samuel especially with the Brandon Ayuk situation being questionable looks pretty tasty as well. I'm going to look at running back here. I just like these guys. I think they have a lot of juice Because I've got Bijan, because I've got Jalen Hurts, I got some heavy hitters there. I'm going to draft a guy normally don't draft just because I think it is a high risk. I think you're getting him at his feeling. But I love the opportunity to have devon hn as my rb2 with bijan robinson and jalen hurts. I love the start of that draft man. It just seems like it could be really, really high feeling. All right, frankie, you're next. You got two badasses here with brief hall and derrick henry. Where are you going now?
Speaker 2:So this is interesting, man, because I could totally I love the quarterback call out because this is exactly right. You want to get some of those top tiered guys. And so there's still Patrick Mahomes, there's still Lamar Jackson, there's still CJ Stroud. I could definitely go tight end here. I could pick up Kelsey, pick up Sam Laporta, right Guys who have dominated from a touchdown share perspective.
Speaker 2:John, I'm not going to do any of that shit. You know what I'm going to do. I'm going to go back to the well at running back, because I can plug a running back into my flex. And then I know, like teams, like team four, team two, team three, team one they are going to be salivating for running backs, but I'm going to have the stable they need. So right now I could go Josh Jacobs, isaiah Pacheco, rashad White, james Cook I'll tell you what man. This one's pretty easy for me. I'm locking in Josh Jacobs and I'm taking him and going to plug him into my flex position. Now I feel really warm and cozy, just in case if there's an injury. I still have two other top tier backs. I can plug one into the flex and I'm really solidifying my team on a, you know, in a standard lead with these workhorses here.
Speaker 1:Well you know, leave it to Frankie. This is classic, frankie, and you know what you know you're going to hear it on YouTube.
Speaker 1:You're going to hear it. I know you're going to hear it. You're going to say no fucking way. Well, I dropped three running backs in the 10 feet. You're going to hear it, man. I know it Every time. Hey, bring it everyone, please. Fuck the hashtag, fuck Frankie. That needs to become a thing Big time. But you got to get Frankie on YouTube for this. But you know what? I will support you and back you up on this. This is how you draft and, if I remember correctly, it is beginning of the episode you were holding. I was. It worked All right, matt. What do you got here, buddy? You got Jameer Gibbs and you have Marvin Harrison Jr.
Speaker 3:Where are you going yeah. So I think the preceding two picks were both great, two guys I was looking to possibly pick up in my spot. I see they were both snipped by two great drafters. So you always have to have that contingency plan and I was a little thankful that, frank, he decided to go with Josh Jacobs because, man, I'll tell you, this guy, this guy right here I mean he just named off the list of running backs available. I feel like this guy's a sleeper and I just don't understand why. Give me Isaiah Pacheco. I've never seen a guy run harder Maybe Derrick Henry, but just the way he plays got to have him on my team and in the third round is maybe a potentially rb1. I know it's a 10 team league, but still that's what you're looking for in this type of draft absolutely.
Speaker 1:I love that pick. Isaiah pacheco is not talked about enough. He is a workhorse running back on the sheet with patrick mahomes. There's nobody with. They got rid of what's his name? Jerk.
Speaker 3:McKinnon yeah, jerk McKinnon yeah he's gone. Yeah, I mean he fell alone back there. Man Clyde's where. Where's CEH? I mean, it's one guy, it's a one-trick pony, as they like to say. So yeah, I'm going to lock him in and, as it came back around, if you want to name off the guys, but I already know who I'm picking- All right, let's give it a second here.
Speaker 1:Right after Pacheco, there was Travis Kelsey, debo, samuel, stephon Digg, mike Evans, jalen Waddell, patrick Mahone. Matt, you've already got your pick locked in. You're ready to go? Who was?
Speaker 3:your fourth-round pick, matt? Yeah, so just talking about strategy as we go back to the, to the prior pick, obviously, looking ahead, I saw the teams were kind of needing a running back and when I was really wanting was a quarterback one in particular. But again, looking forward to the teams and and what they needed, I felt like I was safe and taking a running back and possibly getting the quarterback that I wanted with this next pick. And and again, I feel like a lot of people are starting to talk about him, but I think this guy's got QB1 written all over him this year. I'm going to lock in a little Colts guy, anthony Richardson. Give me another running quarterback who's going to give me some more value there. But also, passing, I like the way the team's shaping up right now.
Speaker 1:I do too. Really interesting there, man. Yeah, anthony Richardson's super interesting. I mean, he's kind of the darling of the fantasy experts. All of the experts love him. Number one. A rushing quarterback is it's fantasy, fucking gold. We all know it. There are more of those guys. And this is a dude, this is a big dude. I mean, we only got what did we get? Three games out of him last year and he looked pretty good, you know.
Speaker 3:So yeah, I think he was QB2 in both weeks that he played fully, so limited sample size, but from what we've seen there could be big dividends.
Speaker 1:Now, luckily, we're in a 10 team league, so there's going to be plenty of people on the waiver wire that you can pick up. But again, we talk about when you draft anthony richardson. He is going at a high price tag and we've seen a very, very small sample size out of him. Definitely come back, get another quarterback to give you some safety at the end of the draft whether it's a, a golf, an Aaron Rogers, you know, a cook cousin, somebody like that just to give you a little bit of backup and a safety net there. All right, frank, where are you going here, man? Hey, you want another running?
Speaker 2:back.
Speaker 1:How about that Sure?
Speaker 2:Yeah, you know what I do want a running back, except I want them in the form of a quarterback baby, and I'm locking in that of Lamar Jackson. You know what I want a piece of the Ratbirds this year. I want to be miserable on Sunday. You know what I mean, watching this team and the disgusting purple and black end up dominating all year. And you know what? With that being said, in fantasy I want a piece man. So now I got Derrick Henry partnered up with his guy Lamar Jackson. Let's go.
Speaker 1:All right, I love it. I'm going to dig here. When you think I'm going to zag. Okay, I'm going to do some strategy that I don't normally do and, first of all, I don't normally do a 10 team league. But I'm going to do some things I don't normally do. I am looking at tight end here. These positions are very important and I know this is a guy I'm never going to be able to get because of his draft price and a normal 12-team league. So I'm going to go with Sam Laporta here and lock in stud tight end.
Speaker 1:All right, after Sam Laporta, we got Nico Collins, dj Moore, rashad White, michael Pittman Jr, dk Metcalf. Well, we just did that, would you rather? Then they go right together on the turn there James Cookke, cooper Cooke, dalton Kincaid, and I'm back on the clock. Well, I know this is where everybody's going to murder me on YouTube because I don't have a single receiver. Yet I'm going to jump on a guy right now and this is a guy we may talk about in another episode coming up A little hint hint. I love this guy. He's a rookie. I think he is going to be an absolute goddamn dud. Looks great. He's a true alpha. I'm locking in Malik Neighbors here. Man, I know it's a little sketchy, being my wide receiver one, but anybody that's seen me draft knows I'm probably going to be hammering a couple of receivers in a row here, and I want to start with Neighbors. I am targeting him in every draft that I possibly can.
Speaker 2:John question on this, just for the people listening, for people watching what made you choose Malik neighbors over that of a Devontae Smith to have a stack? I'm just curious.
Speaker 1:I want Malik neighbors. I don't. I'm not in love with Devontae Smith, he can disappear. There are some talks of Dallas Goddard being injured. Now Jahan Dotson is now an Eagle. Now Jahan Dotson is now an Eagle as well, and that stuff we'll get into in our news for next week here. But yeah, neighbors, just there's zero competition whatsoever and it's a pure volume play for me. And if I'm going to go with somebody like that, I want to get a guy who's got the volume, not a number two receiver on a team.
Speaker 2:Sure Love it. So, john, I'm up man. And so, guys, now I'm going to go receiver here, and what's interesting is looking at receivers. So first off, back up. My team right now is Brees Hall, derrick Henry, josh Jacobs Again, 10-man league in a standard format. I already have my two running backs in flex already taken care of. Layer in Lamar Jackson love that. So I need to hit on this receiver and I think the best receiver that gives me a highest floor capability. I'm not looking for a ceiling play, I'm looking for a high floor capability. I'm looking at Devontae Smith, zay Flowers, tank Dell, amari Cooper, tee Higgins. This one is easy. I'm already repping out the brown. You see the brown and orange behind baby. I'm locking in Amari Cooper. He's a receiver one on a team with that of Deshaun Watson. If Deshaun Watson can't play we've already seen what he did with Joe Flacco. So if it's Jameis Winston, if it's DTR, if it's Tyler Huntley God forbid something happens to Watson I feel confident that this dude can hold it down Homer.
Speaker 1:Homer pick.
Speaker 2:Love it.
Speaker 3:Come on, you didn't want to stack Jackson and.
Speaker 1:Zay Flowers Interesting.
Speaker 3:Old strategy Thought you were going to do it Almost did. Well, I'll tell you what, Since you didn't take him. I'm definitely taking this guy because when we talk about a standard league, it really levels the playing field for receivers and what we're looking for is we want guys with big play capabilities, and Zay Flowers, to me, is a guy who can go out there. He might only have two catches, but he might have 150 yards and two touchdowns. And yeah, Cooper Cup could have 10 catches for a hundred yards, but guess, you scored more points. That's going to be Zay Flowers, and I think he really again talking about a sleeper and Zay Pacheco. I feel like this guy just kind of sleeping on him after a pretty good rookie season last year.
Speaker 1:He's a year two receiver. I mean this is the magic spot for these guys, and Zay Flowers fits right into that. There is no reason he doesn't have a big jump this year and really have a big breakout. You know we've seen the data on that for year two receivers and Zay Flowers perfect fit for that. All right, right after Zay Flowers, we had Kenneth Walker, cj Stroud, joe Mixon, trey McBride, mark Andrews and DeAndre Swift. This is round six and, matt, you're back on the clock.
Speaker 3:So again, this is a little interesting Thinking about A projection of who's going to get that big play. Who's going to get the volume Obviously again no PPR points and really looking at a receiver. Here again Team is pretty much rounded out. Looking now for that flex spot, I could go tight end, but I think a flex would be a good look at here Because obviously the top tight end has kind of fallen off. So don't want to push a tight end when I don't need to. A guy who I think could have a big season. I know there's some uncertainty at the quarterback position for this team right now. I know it would take pleasure in drafting this guy, but I will say, if you look at the team thus far, going down the list, I'm looking for big play potential. Who's the guy that's going to go out there and score big every week and again, may not have the highest volume but is going to get enough chances to produce big, and that's going to be George Pickens for me.
Speaker 1:I love that pick man. George Pickens is another one of those guys that I am targeting Now. I got really nervous because they've been in the talks with getting Brandon Ayuk over there. They get Brandon Ayuk over there. It's going to destroy George Pickens' value. I mean, jeff, he's still going to have a great year and he's still going to be a great player, but there's just way too many targets that'll go to Brandon Ayuk at that point. But as long as George is, ayuk doesn't go there and George Pickens is the one I'm targeting this dude man. He's never had a quarterback that's been capable of getting him the ball. He's got two of them this year, so I'm really excited about that. All right, great pick man. Frankie, what are you doing here?
Speaker 2:bud. Yeah, this is interesting, guys, because I do want to kind of do something crazy, and I don't think I'm going to do it, but I want to talk this out for a second. I was actually leaning towards taking another running back. The reason being is because I can leverage this for multiple trades to improve my receiver position from what I can draft at this point in time. What I mean by this is I could actually lock in Alvin, Kamara, Aaron Jones, James Connor all of those guys I absolutely love for a standard particular league. And then you know, when you look at the receivers, it's Devante, Smith, Tank, Dell T Higgins, Keenan Allen, etc. So the difference is huge knowing that I could package up maybe one of my particular receivers that I draft in a later round, package him up with a Kamara or an Aaron Jones and immediately increase my receiver two positioning. Again, that's going to calculus before we kind of hit algebra here.
Speaker 2:So, with this being said, I'm going to keep it a little bit easier. I'm not going to necessarily go that route. I'm actually going to go tight end. The reason being, guys, is because there is still a tight end on the board that I think is going to be a serious threat in the red zone consistently, and that's George Kittle, With him being with Brock Purdy. We've already seen this done. I think it only helps elevate what I'm missing from my receiver spot. Instead of reaching for a potential receiver. I'm getting a point differential in what George Kittle can do in comparison to some of these other guys. So for me, that's why I'm going to go George Kittle, but I did kind of want to do that running back play.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's a good move. I mean, you know guys everybody listening and watching out there take that into consideration. If you get to a certain round and you've got one receiver and three running backs and you're looking at all the receivers, you need a receiver because you need to fill out your roster. But if you're not in love with those guys and you don't love them, don't draft a receiver just because you think you need one. Take a better player, and you have to be an active owner, though, and you got to make some trades and do some things, so don't be afraid to do that. You don't have to fill out your roster, your starting roster. As you're drafting, you know, keep in mind that you're going to make some moves and make some offers. So I love that. Frankie, Great job, All right. Well, you know, I love it when the plan comes together.
Speaker 1:Guys, this is another lesson here. Frankie asked me why didn't I take Devonta Smith to do the stack. It's because I like neighbors, that's a guy I want. I took him around before I needed to because I wanted to anchor my receiver room with him and I was able to come back and get Devonta Smith here at the next pick. So things do work out and I still get the stack that I love the stack Yep, All right. Still get the stack that I love the stack Yep, All right. Then Kyler Murray, Aaron Jones, Christian Kirk, Tank Dell, T Higgin, Alvin Kamara, Kyle Pitt, Ramondre Stevenson, and I'm back on the clock. Now my team feels a lot better to me. I got a night stack, I've got my onesie positions taken care of, two running backs and two receivers, so now I feel wide open, a total freedom to do whatever I need to do at this point.
Speaker 1:I would like more receivers here, but again, I'm going to take best available. I'm not going to have to fill out my entire roster. First Running backs James Connor, David Montgomery, Najee Harris, Raheem Mostert guys that I do really like all of those guys. Receivers Keenan Allen, Terry McLaurin, Roman Dunzay Big teardrop, I think, as far as just volume and touchdowns for the receivers than the running backs. I'm going to double up on running back here, just because it is best available player. I'm going. James Conner I love James Conner. This year, Again, he's never played an entire season his whole career, so I know he's not going to be available sometimes, but the games he plays with a healthy Kyler Murray. The guy could goddamn stud, so I'm putting him on my team.
Speaker 2:Love it, john Love it, and to be honest with you, man, I was kind of leaning towards that if he was still going to be on. So I'm kind of glad you took him from me, because that would have been stressful. So now I'm looking at that of receivers guys. I am holding on to Amari Cooper to dear life at this point. So I got Keenan Allen, I got Terry McLaurin and a few that you mentioned.
Speaker 2:Matt, I love your call out, and it is. You have to be able to take somebody with big play potential. However, because of this teardrop guys and I know that this is a standard league I still don't want to immediately lock in a ceiling play as my receiver. Two, I want a little bit more safety net here. So for me, I'm going to actually end up taking Keenan Allen. I know that he's a possession monster. I know that he's going to be second fiddle to that of DJ Moore. That's okay. I just need somebody to tread water and keep me afloat of my receiver too, and then I can start layering on some of these ceiling plays following.
Speaker 1:It's a great call, great explanation as to why you chose him too. Appreciate that. All right, matt. Where are you going here, buddy, this is round seven.
Speaker 3:Yeah. So looking at the board, I think that obviously you still need a tight end Again, as we talked about in the last round. I'm looking at the board. A lot of the high quality tight ends have already gone, so not going to force the issue with getting a tight end At this point. Why waste an early or later early draft pick on a tight end? Really don't see any need. It's only a 10 team league. A guy who I think has a pretty decent floor, maybe even a higher ceiling. It's a running back At this point filled out the roster for the most part. So looking more into flags or backing up that RB position for an RB2. I think Zamir White is a guy who could really have an outstanding season being with Coach Antonio Pierce who wants to run the football. Obviously they have Devante Adams there, but from what we saw with him last year when he did have that that bell cow role he was a pretty solid running back. So I'm going to go ahead and lock him in as an RB2.
Speaker 1:I love that pick. I think he is being swept on. You're absolutely right. We don't talk about Demir White a lot, but he's kind of by himself in that backfield. I mean, they will move the ball, With Gardner Minshew being named quarterback. I think that is going to help too. They're going to be able to move the ball a little more down the field. I think that's going to give Demir White a opportunity, maybe even catching the ball a lot more out of the backfield. I mean, we saw what Josh Jacobs did a few years ago doing that, so it could be really, really interesting. Man, Love that. All right, After Zamir White, we had Jaden Reed, David Montgomery, Joe Burrow, Najee Harris, Raheem Mostert and Chris Godwin. And Matt, you're back on the clock in the eighth round.
Speaker 3:I just want to commend Team 9 for finally getting their two running backs and back-to-back rounds. I was getting a little stressed myself. I've done the zero RB strategy, but this year in a 10-team league, I don't know about it. Hey, you know this is a good learning moment.
Speaker 1:Though you look at that and I mean, if you're waiting until round seven, they did zero RB strategy. They waited until round seven to get their running backs and to have david montgomery and raheem mostard, that's pretty damn good, it really is. I mean so that 10 team league that just goes to show guys that zero rb strategy or hero rb strategy can really work. There's just a lot more talent in the pool to pull from. So I I like what they ended up doing there, getting a stud quarterback and a stud tight end with four great receivers. I love that team.
Speaker 3:Great receivers yeah yeah, we'll have to see what our team one can pull out with the hero rp. They're just hammered at this. Yeah, they're drunk, they don't know what they're okay, the hell of a drug.
Speaker 3:It's really just a 19 thing at this point. This guy's just throwing darts at the law. Um. So, looking at the team, though, I really like how the team's coming into form at this point. Really looking to back up the wide receiver depth, knowing I'm probably not going to get a high-quality receiver coming back around in the ninth round, and knowing the guy next to me really needs a wide receiver too, A guy I like this year it's a new face In a new place. He's gonna be the wide receiver one. In my opinion, he's a big play threat. I feel like the quarterback Is pretty solid there. New coach Guy who likes To throw the ball I'm gonna go with Calvin Ridley.
Speaker 1:Love that pick. Love that pick. Really late too. I mean Eighth round For Calvin Ridley. Come on, man, I know it's draft, it's draft week. You know everybody's drafted now that edp should have shot up. I mean it's just a great value for calvin ridley. That pisses me off.
Speaker 2:It's probably gonna take him too, man all right, I'm up, I'm on the clock and so, guys, I'm gonna go to the receiver here. So, again, looking at my team, I got my three workhorse running backs, and then I have Lamar Jackson, I have Amari Cooper and Keenan Allen okay, and so I like those. But I want to add to this and I'm still not ready to go completely a ceiling play. I want another good quality receiver, one currently on their team. Again, this guy, it's going to be Terry McLaurin. This is a guy that is going to be with a rookie quarterback. The rookie quarterback is absolutely going to be targeting this cat, especially since Jahan Dotson is gone. He's now on the Eagles and, again, this is also assuming that they aren't going to backfill with a Brandon Iyuk or something along those lines.
Speaker 2:Right, we don't have any additional information at this point in time, but as of right now, knowing he is the receiver, one on a team with a rookie quarterback. We've seen it, john, we've talked about it in the past. Sometimes rookie quarterbacks zone in on their particular target. They know that, hey, this is the guy who's running the route or the hot route that I need to get the ball to, and in this type of offense, it's going to be Terry McLaurin. So for me, man, locking it in keeping a very, very high floor on my running back or on my receivers is really critical, knowing that I have the high play potential on my running back. So locking in Terry McLaurin.
Speaker 1:I'm going to do exact. I thought when you started talking I thought you were going to take the guy that I wanted, and I was pissed, because this guy is the receiver one on his team. He is not going to be suspended. Game starts here in two weeks, guys, and there is no ruling. So at this point, my man, rasheed Wright, looks like he's going to be playing here without any suspension. Look at him again, guys. Near two receiver Broke out a bit last year. We saw a lot of good flashes of it. I think we're going to see a true breakout with Rasheed Rice this year. Patrick Mahomes, throw him the ball.
Speaker 2:I mean, come on, guys, rasheed Rice is the pick and John, to that point. I mean, we have Hollywood Brown, who's banged up right, you have an unknown in that of Xavier Worthy, and we're coming off seeing Rasheed Rice setting the postseason record for a rookie and keep me honest, here it's going to be between the two it's either for receptions or yardage. I'll have to go back and check, but he set that record. So for me, man, I think it's a phenomenal pick and getting him in the eighth round there to pair with Devonta Smith and Malik Neighbors.
Speaker 1:Yeah, baby, absolutely All right Back on the clock here can really do anything. I want the receivers turned out better than I expected, to be perfectly honest, with taking running backs, two running backs, a quarterback and a tight end in my first four picks. So I'm really happy how that worked out. Running backs here you've got Nick Chubb, zach Moth. Nick Chubb, which I think Frankie takes in every single mock draft that we've done so far this year, so I would imagine he's going to take in that. Zach Moss, jonathan Brooks, javante Williams, jalen Warren a lot of running backs there that I still like. Devin Fingletary, brian Robinson a lot of sneaky running backs. I'm going to let those guys go. I'm going to keep hammering a little bit on receiver.
Speaker 1:This one's tough. There's three guys that I really like here Lad McConkie, deontay Johnson and Keon Coleman. It's really difficult. I've got a pretty damn young team and that makes me a little nervous too. Having too many rookies on your team can be a little not great all the time here. There will be a learning curve. I'm going to go for a guy here that does have some safety. This is a guy I may end up actually starting in my flex. Deontay Johnson we talked about him in New Faces, new Places. I've got a lot of home run hitters on my team, a lot of high ceiling plays. Give me a nice high floor play here as well and balance out my team and round it out, and Deontay Johnson gives me that. All right, frank, you're in round nine. What are you going with here, buddy?
Speaker 2:Oh you know what's coming, john. You know what's coming. This is a guy drafting every round you just called it and every mock draft. I want him on my bench. I want to piss people off. I want the YouTubers to come after me and say you're an idiot, bring it on, because now I got even more trade bait than what I had before. Give me a Chubb for Chubb, man, lock it in. Don't even need to fucking think about it.
Speaker 1:You got that big dick energy over here, the big big Chubb energy, big dick, nick man. All right, Matt, save us from this, please.
Speaker 3:Well, I was looking at running back as well, so I'm kind of thankfully took.
Speaker 3:I mean I absolutely want him to have a great season. But looking at who's available is Ekmos, ethel Brooks, javante Williams, I think again, as we're looking at a standard league, receptions aren't a big part at all really. So I'm wanting a guy who can get the ball in the end zone, have decent volume, and I think Javante Williams could provide that for me. So I'm going to go ahead and lock him in, I think, again as an RB1 territory in his situation. There's obviously Julio McLaughlin and, you know, p Ryan. It's a mix there, but I think he's a good guy to stash as an RB4.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I think people are scared of Javante Williams. I think people are just scared of the Denver Broncos. You know you've got Bo Nix, a quarterback, complete unknown rookie You've got you know they lost Jerry Judy. You got Cortland Sutton, tim Patrick who we haven't even seen play in three years Marvin Mims, marvin Mims. So not a lot of value on this team, which leads me to believe that it should be the Javante Williams show. He should be running the ball a ton and I do think people are sleeping on him. I think he's a great late round dart throw, and you'll know early. You'll know early on if he's going to be getting the volume or not. So great pick man, love it. After Javante Williams, you've got Christian Watson, hollywood Brown, jonathan Brooks, jalen Warren, devin Singletary and a lad, a lad McConkie Matt. You're back on the clock round 10.
Speaker 3:So at this point in the draft, even with Jabate Williams, looking for guys who are going to provide solid bench spots Not really If these are the starters, at this point you know a little concerned. But looking forward, looking for rejections. I'm looking at the wide receivers right now Keon Coleman, deandre Hopkins. Obviously I already have Calvin Rudnick, so I'm staying away from him. I do like Jackson Smith and Jigba, but I do think that Keon Coleman is an interesting play here for me. Obviously, going to Buffalo's offense with Josh Allen, a guy who throws it all over the yard. Running backs are still kind of unestablished in my opinion. James Cook is a good guy, but really who's that offense going to go through? Is it going to go through Dalton Kincaid? Dawson Knox is hurt right now. I'm going to lock in Keon Coleman. I think he has the potential to be a pretty high-volume guy in a really good offense.
Speaker 1:He's a guy I'm targeting a lot at the end of my drafts, depending on how my team looks. I mean, you've got Curtis Samuels on the shelf right now and we don't know how long that's going to be. It's a week at this point and the season starts in two weeks, so you know, you need to be knowing what's going on here. But with Curtis Samuels banged up, I mean we've got a ton of targets that are vacated here on this team Between Gabe Davis and Stepan Diggs. What do we say? Something like 265 vacated targets. Those are going somewhere, guys. Okay, khalil Shakir cannot take all of those targets himself. So yeah, I love it man. I think he's a great, great dart throw at the end of the drafts.
Speaker 2:Good job, all right, man, I'm up. So I'm looking at my team right now and I definitely need to go to the receiver position. So right now I have Amari Cooper, keenan Allen, terry McLaurin feeling really good about my running backs here, but I need to look at what we have available DeAndre Hopkins, jsn, as you mentioned. Matt could go. Brian Thomas could go, jamal Williams or it's Jamison Williams, and I could go.
Speaker 2:Cortland Sutton I actually like a few of these guys and I'm a bit torn. I'll tell you what, though I'm going to lock in DeHop. I know he's a bit banged up right now and I know some of the things are happening, but I don't need him to start. I can sit on him and he is a deep ball threat. He's a 50-50 kind of guy and in a standard league I want my quarterback to throw it up and I want that receiver to get one. One reception for 40 yards. To your point, matt, you could have two receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown, right, that's what I'm looking for so locking in d hop as my receiver, for I'm gonna do the same thing here.
Speaker 1:Man, hey, there's a guy that is going to a team that, um, again a lot of vacated targets. I think this guy's gonna fit right into the calvin ridley role for the trevor lawrence offense. And again, this is a standard 10 team league. I want touchdown. This guy had what did he have last year Like 17, 17, 17 touchdowns on the team with Malik neighbors as well. I mean, come on, man.
Speaker 2:You did that on purpose. Yeah, you're so corny, you think you're fine.
Speaker 1:You know I just my team is almost as if it just materializes out of a dream. Sometimes it's just so perfect. Brian Thomas Jr Is my pick Love that guy. Another guy I'm targeting in every draft at the end of the draft. All right Then.
Speaker 1:Zach Moth, austin Echler, brian Robinson, gus Edward Evan Ingram, david Njoku, jsn, brock Purdy, and I am back on the clock. We have two picks left here in the 11th round. I've got everything I need. I've got a stable of good receivers. I did exactly what I said. I went heavy on running back and the onesies came back and just went receiver heavy, and I'm really happy at how that turned out. So, really, what I want to do here is get a little bit more running back depth here, and you know what I will do since is get a little bit more running back depth here, and you know what I will do.
Speaker 1:Since I am a little short on running backs. I normally like leaving with at least five running backs. Typically in my draft, I'm going to go ahead and handcuff my own guy because I am a little lighter. I love this guy Again. He's another rookie. I'm loving these rookies this year Troy Benson for the Arizona Cardinals. He is James Conner's backup. Makes me feel better, because normally I don't like drafting my own backup, but I only have three running backs, so if my guy goes down, I know I've got that backfield locked in. So I'm taking Trey Benson here.
Speaker 2:Nice, john. Yeah, that's a good call out, man and guys, I'm on the clock now and again, with two rounds left, I'm really thinking I need to go back to running back, because Nick Chubb is not going to be necessarily a good backup until maybe halfway through the season. So, just in case I'm looking at Tajee Spears, zeke, I could go Jerome Ford. That's really interesting. But the thing is is I don't necessarily. It doesn't make sense for the way my team is constructed here, guys. So this is a really good call because, john, in every other mock draft that we have done, we're always like, man, get you a piece of Jerome Ford if you have Nick Chubb, just in case.
Speaker 2:But with the way I drafted three running backs in a row, it would be like a decay on my bench at this point in time. So I want to go away from that and not handcuff myself. So, with that being said, I want to go with somebody that could be a really good handcuff for the other team and for me. It's pretty easy. Man, I'm actually going to go Tajay Spears. I think, with his ability to kind of be a one beat to that of Tony Pollard, knowing that he's my running back five, I feel like there's very, very little risk here.
Speaker 1:I think Tajay Spears is going to be the Jalen Warren this year. Man, it is not going to be. He's not a backup. He will be on the field quite often, Absolutely.
Speaker 3:Well, if you're not going to take him, I'll take him. I think Darrell Borden is a fantastic, fantastic spy right here At the end of the draft. Again, we're really uncertain with Nick Chubb. Obviously he's a Browns fan. We want him to come back, but we know Cleveland loves to run the ball. And Chubb Obviously he's a Browns fan. We want him to come back, but we know Cleveland loves to run the ball. And just looking at the other running backs out there, Blake Corham is a guy I'm really interested in, but I think obviously he might take some time with Sean McVay. We've seen this story before with rookie running backs. Cam Akers is a great example with Sean McVay, and then Ezekiel Elliott. I'm staying away from that guy. I know there's nobody else there, but I I'm really uncertain with Dallas right now with CD Lamb, not sure what's going on. So I'm going to lock in Jerome Ford just again to have that depth.
Speaker 1:Love it then. Caleb Williams to Otunga-Mailoa Curtis, Samuel Dallas, Goddard, Blake Corham and Tyler Lockett. Alright, Matt, your last pick here. Who is your tight end going to be?
Speaker 3:Yeah, so it's again. At this point there's nobody else is probably really needing a tight end one other than me. And look at the guys available Dalton Schultz, tj Hawkinson, pete Farah, pat Fryer, even Cole Komet those are some big names. At the end of the draft they're still available. So again, don't sweat on a tight end If you're in a 10-team league like this, because you're still going to have options and, as we all know, with the tight end position, there's going to be guys on the waiver wire who pop up and down. So don't feel like you have to push it.
Speaker 3:And I definitely would not go with the two Tight end strategy in a 10-team league. Looking at some of the FPT, don't do that. But I think again, maybe it's me just watching Hard Knocks too much, but I feel like Caleb Williams is going to have a pretty good season. And what do we know with rookie quarterbacks? They like to check it down to the tight end. I think at this point in the draft you really can't go wrong with any of these guys. And again, we're not playing PPR. So just give me a guy who could have some decent volume and I'm going to go with Cole Komet.
Speaker 2:Love it, man, love it. Good pick, why not? You're playing the tight end game anyways. Might as well throw a dart at the wall and hopefully it sticks. If not, you have plenty left, john, for my last pick here. Man, I'm actually going to go with a high flyer. I'm ecstatic that this dude is still sitting here. It's a receiver. It's Jamison Williams. This is the perfect cherry on top to my team. I need somebody to take the absolute top off of a defense. He's been incredible in camp so far. He's surely locked up the receiver two position behind Amin Ra. So for me, man, just to add that to Keenan Allen, terry McLaurin, deandre Hopkins and then that of Amari Cooper, it's Jamison Williams. So loving this receiver room as it stands.
Speaker 1:All right, yeah, he is certainly one of those guys at the end of the draft. That's really fun to draft man. He could do it this year. This is another guy that we're talking about flyers. We're talking about guys at the end of the draft who you want to grab just to see Lottery ticket type guys. This is one of those guys.
Speaker 1:We haven't seen him for a little while, but the exact duo of JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards went from Baltimore and they go right over and they're playing in Los Angeles now at the chargers. Now, when they were together, how did you name those guys? Did you say, oh, it's Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins? No, you didn't. You said it's JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards, because JK Dobbins, Dobbins was the alpha, was the one a. Could he get back there? I don't know, but I'm going to take him here and give it a shot because if he does, that's massive trade bait, man, Massive trade bait. All right, After JK, we had Zeke, we had Jaden Daniels, Jared Goff and Chase Brown to round out the draft.
Speaker 1:All right, guys, quickly, let's just look at our teams here. Look at my team here. First I went with Bijan and Devon Ajan. Look at my team here. First I went with Bijan and Devon Achan, James Conner, Trey Benton backing that up, and JK Dobbins as my running back, Jalen Hoots, Sam Laporta, quarterback and tight end, then my receivers. That's where I had to do a little bit of work here and get creative, but I was really happy with how it turned out. Locking it down with Malik Neighbik, neighbors Devante Smith for the stack, Rasheed Wright, Deontay Johnson and Brian Thomas. I think it's a really good mix of nice high floor and then some, you know, got some rookie action in there with some really high ceiling plays as well.
Speaker 2:It really turned out well for what I was trying to do. Yeah, john, I think one of the interesting things is that you have a shit ton of high ceiling players, like that is the key call out is because when you're in a standard league, matt again I want to go back to what you said it is super critically important touchdowns and also a dots average depth of target Right. We talked about that in the new faces, new places receivers episode. So, guys, this is Malik neighbors all day long. That's Devante Smith doing medium to long routes, and then, obviously, the addition of Brian Thomas, who had the most receiving touchdowns in the NCAA last year was 17. So that's why I really, really thought this was interesting in terms of your ceiling plays.
Speaker 3:Yeah, and I think I think this year what we're going to see is almost a changing of the guard. I really like this wide receiver class. I think all the scouts like the wide receiver class. I like Malik Nabors, I like Brian Thomas. Don't be afraid to draft a rookie wide receiver this year. I know there's hesitation sometimes because you haven't seen him in the NFL yet, but I really feel like this could be one of those seasons where the changing of the guard from the older generation to this new style of play. I feel like we can see some big numbers from these rookie receivers this year.
Speaker 1:We did an episode on that rookie review here. I'm going to post it right there, but take a look at that episode. Guys, we go through these rookie receivers because these guys will perform this year.
Speaker 2:All right break your team down here, frey. Yeah, sure, I'll break the winning team down, not a problem. So, guys, what the strategy was here is I was just treading water. I wanted to see how this kind of panned out and I really actually like how this turned out. So, love going with the three running backs up front in a standard league, and then you can also wait then to get higher floor receivers. Guys, again, if you're going the three running back route to start, just know you're probably going to want to stray away from some of the ceiling receivers early on because you're putting too much at risk at that point in time.
Speaker 2:So for my team just for those listening and not being able to watch it's Brees Hall, derrick Henry, josh Jacobs, nick Chubb and Tajay Spears. For my running back position, my quarterback is Lamar Jackson. Love having that rushing floor. Actually, all of us went rushing quarterbacks, which was pretty cool. And then I went receiver with Amari Cooper, keenan Allen, terry McLaurin, dee Hopp and that of Jameson Williams, and then I have a nice little cherry on top with George Kittle.
Speaker 2:For me this is a very, very powerful type of team. It's absolutely going to be running back dependent. I'm kind of screwed, to be honest with you. If one of my running backs or receivers get hurt, I'm very thin based on how I drafted. However, there is still some trade bait that I have with that of Nick Chubb, josh Jacobs and even if Jamison Williams or some of these other guys end up popping off. So for me, man, I think that this is a really well-balanced team and I was really excited to show the viewers here what it could be like if you actually drafted three running backs in a row.
Speaker 1:And I know exactly what you would do, knowing how you play, frankie is that you're going to wait for the moment that Josh Jacobs has a two touchdown game or he's getting furious volume and you're trading his ass and you're going to upgrade to a wide receiver one and that's going to balance your entire team out that? I've seen you do it a thousand times, so, yeah, no, I like what you did there, matt, and being an active owner, we have to explain that, because people are always freak out about how you draft and it makes everybody nervous, but there's always a plan back there, so I like it all. Right, matt, why don't you break us down, uh, your team and how you feel about it?
Speaker 3:maddie. I feel good about the team. Just looking back, taking Jameer Gibbs with where I took him at, I think it was a smart play. Again, jamar Chase is obviously available but we don't know what's going on with the contract situation and I don't want to be that guy stuck with the guy who's not playing. And then AJ Brown I just we saw some dysfunction there at the end of the season. So I really do like the Jameer Gibbs play because in that high powered offense he can produce a lot. And obviously again he was injured but Dan Campbell came out and said he's going to be ready to go week one. So I do like that pick.
Speaker 3:And then Marvin Harrison is a guy I'm really on this rookie wide receiver class. I think he's going to have a really good season. He's going to go into an offense with Kyler Murray. You can just throw the ball and it's a guy who's established, so I'm not scared with that. Checo is a guy I'm looking forward to seeing this year. Richardson is again. I think he has QB1 written all over him.
Speaker 3:And then just the rest of the team. I feel like really got guys who have a decent floor but have that high ceiling potential and again, in a standard league we're looking for guys who can give you the points, not necessarily the volume. So Zay Flowers, george Pickens, those are great examples. We saw it last year. Both of them had multiple games where they have three catches but they have 100 yards and two touchdowns. That's what we need in a standard league, especially in a 10-team league. So I do like the team. And Kiad Coleman is a guy. Again, if I can get him in the 10th round in a lot of drafts, I'm excited because again we have Khalil Shakir. Who else is there? Dalton Kincaid, I just I really think that he's a guy at Florida State who really dominated. He's a big body receiver. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in the NFL.
Speaker 2:Matt one question that I have is is Jameer Gibbs. You took him number seven overall, so first round number seven. Why Gibbs over Saquon Barkley? I'm just curious on that thought process there.
Speaker 3:Well, number one is Jalen Hurts is not in the picture, so we know who gets the goal line carries in that offense in Philadelphia and Jalen Hurts takes a lot of those rushing opportunities. I think Saquon Barkley is a great player, but I'm just looking from the standpoint of yeah, you could say David Montgomery is there, but as we saw the season progress last year, david Montgomery obviously got hurt but they wanted to feature Jameer Gibbs in every aspect and it's just the big play potential. Obviously, saquon's getting a little bit older now. I just feel like again they took him with the 12th overall pick. They want to feature this guy. He really carried him in the postseason. So I'm really thinking with that offense that was a big choice over why I would take him over Saquon Barkley Nice.
Speaker 1:Alright, guys. Well, that is the mock draft today. Please send comments, let us know what you think how we did. What would you do differently?
